What different types of lead is used in the production of today’s air rifle pellets??? Why do these companies choose these types of lead??? Why does the lead of a Gamo Rocket look so different than the lead of RWS Super H Point??? Thanks for the information… Tim
i just read a report in the james kitching airgun forum about crossman pellets and why they use alloys! lead is very unstable and oxidizes very quickly and when stored will change. the alloys along with tempature and chemical treatments help stabilize them and harden them to maintain uniformity over long periods of time! it takes several weeks to make a pellet from start to finish product. as for rws ammo, ive found it to be really soft and believe it to be one of the more pure lead ammo since it does tarnish rather quickly.
