where you can shoot things repeatedly with the space bar, I am sure it is not asteroids, it’s also where you can enter a password to a level where most of the time, the background shows a tank with four cannons, 4 cannons on a tank, uhhmm…it’s considered to be 2d, along with its terrain to have some shadows on the background, (or land your flying on). And your on a ship…

And your on a ship…it is not starcraft, defender, space invaders (100% on that), I remember my first time playing during 1990 to 2000., You have to enter a password to skip levels, okay, not old, but a while back not before 1989, between 1990-2001?
Think the game you might be referring to is Defender perhaps.
