What is it with young black men wearing Misfits shirts?
A lot of black guys at my college are wearing big, baggy t-shirts with the Misfits fiend guy on them, or just the band’s logo in the bleeding typeface it’s usually printed in. I can’t for the life of me make a connection with contemporary hip-hop fashion and a punk band from the 70′s that wrote songs about zombies and raping dead girls.
My guess was that it was a reaction to the insincere t-shirts that white kids wear. You know, like how you’ll see some skinny white guy with Buddy Holly glasses in a t-shirt that says “World’s Greatest Dad” or whatever. Like they’re just wearing them sarcastically to make fun of them. I would appreciate it if anybody could help me figure this out as it distresses me greatly.
