Why do off road helmets have a visor and more chin protection than a racing helmet?
They are designed for the conditions they are used under. When you are doing mx you have other riders roosting you and some of that can be quite large stones or rocks. The helmet has to fit around goggles as well so is designed for that. Mx riders need the visor as jumping can change position a lot and the sun can be a problem.
