Must the size of the cage match the size of the helmet?
In hockey. I bought a large Bauer helmet and a medium Bauer cage. Website claims cage fits all Bauer helmets but does not specify anything about size. The set I purchased does not seem to fit together properly.
It will fit the size of helmet that is designed to fit that size of attachment. It may actually be ‘attachable’ to other Bauer helmets but keep in mind: Helmets are designed to fit within specific ranges like Small, Medium, and Large (or Youth and Adult, etc), and so to are the attachments. You could probably put that medium Bauer cage easily onto almost any other medium sized Bauer helmet, but once the helmet becomes bigger, the cage must also be bigger. It’s like trying to keep the cage you used when you were 12yrs old and attach it to a new helmet now that you’re 20yrs old and fully grown… Chances are, you could //make// it work, sorta, but it won’t be proper. Try to keep the sizes in synch or you could be asking for problems. If push comes to shove, just ask Bauer yourself for an answer:
