my dog barks at EVERYTHING and nips/bites people,?
my dog is a small mix breed (a lab and something else), and she was rescued from saint martin. i have had her for about 3 years now, and we have a major problem with her, she barks at every thing in the house. for example, if something falls off a shelf, she runs out of the room and barks at it. and when i have people over she barks nonstop at them. this wasn’t a huge problem until a month ago, she bit a family member, and has been nipping at people that come into the house. she has done this before, but i shrugged it off and thought that she was just a puppy and would stop, but it didn’t, she keeps nipping and biting, and barking and some family members are afraid to come over. i want it to stop because i am getting sick of her barking all the time at everything that moves (she is litterally afraid of her own shadow). and we are nervous that she will severely injure somebody and i will have to put her down, does anybody know any thing i can do to stop this?
She sounds undersocialized. Try getting her out more, to meet new people, smell new things — you want her to have the attitude “Been there, done that”. I would also consult an animal behaviorist, if she is showing signs of aggression.
You could also enroll her in a obedience class — it would be great socialization for her. Best of luck!!
