Is it possible to bring the salaries of NHL players and other pro athletes down to sane levels?
I would love to play hockey for 100,000 a year as a rookie and 500,000 as a veteran, and 1,000,000 as a top player

sports is a product that is sold, and generates mega dollars. If you lower the salaries of the players then you add to the dollars that the owners get to keep. Judging from the way you worded the question the only way to make it different is to lower the selling price of the product. Maybe $5 tickets and free parking and $1 hot dogs.
