How are home and away uniforms determined in pro football?
How are home and away uniforms determined in pro football?
In general, home is dark and away is white. However, there is a rule that allows the home team to notify the away team to bring their home jerseys. It specifies who need to contact whom and how many days in advance they have to do it, I don’t know the particulars.
At least once a year or two ago the visiting team didn’t do that and the NFL got pretty upset about it. They tried to claim a technicality that the right person wasn’t notified. I think the NFL asked them what kind of fine they wanted to be sure it never happened again.
Historically, Dallas almost always plays in their white jerseys at home. In the 70′s there was even a “curse of the blue jerseys” rumor so teams started making them wear them on the road. It was comical.
