Where can we find a really good doctor in Cairo?
We’re looking for a doctor/ physical therapist, someone who can help with back pain. The average Egyptian doctor recommends muscle relaxant, pain killers or shock treatment. Somehow we think those won’t cure anything.
So we’ve been looking for better options; we know there are great doctors here, you just have to find them. If you could recommend a specific medical center or doctor that you know of, that you have actually been to, it would be a great help! Anything in Egypt will do, preferably in Cairo or Alex., traveling abroad is a last option. Thanks!
Hi. Maybe ask a Western/European Embassy (even if you are Egyptian), if they have a list of Doctors,. They give a list of attorneys that meet their qualifications, so to speak, so maybe they have lists of medical referrals (Im not sure but it’s just an idea for you) that rate high enough to meet the expectations of Western expats. At least you could call and ask what hospitals or clinics most often treat expats.
I am American living in Egypt for almost 4 years and I know what you are talking about. It’s almost like the Dr. doesn’t “really know” whats wrong, so he will write a broad spectrum of prescriptions that cover 5-6 possible causes and then he just hopes one of them work. Its disappointing compared to Western medical treatment, but I know they are doing their best.
