What kind of film and/or lens should I use to make a picture look old fashioned (film not digital)?
I have a manual camera I tool around with. Is there a kind of film that will take the best vintage looking photographs (i.e. speed, brand…). By vintage I mean early balck and white era amost tintype-esque. Also is there a lens that may give a more vintage look? I am a novice so any advice would be much appereciated. I have tried Kodaks black and white 400 speed (TRI-X and TMAX).
Do you mean sepia-tone? That’s a slightly brown/copper tone to the B&W. That can be done digitally in photoshop or in a chemical bath with true black and white prints.
An older, single coated lens will give a less contrasty, more vintage look.
