What will a therapist do?
I am 18 years old I’ve had some traits since childhood that I wish to move past. For example, dependency/clingy-ness with girlfriends.
Obsessions with a celebrity, which are sordid and sexual and I have has since I was 14. This obsession takes up most of my day and night. I spend every minute I can masturbating.
I am constantly distressed and paranoid during the day. I had a Mother with bipolar disorder and I was obsessed and clingy with her until I was 12 years old. She would be kind and then nasty throughout the week, sometimes violent.
I’m not sure if I should see a counselor, therapist or youth worker. There is nothing on the internet with information about my sexual problems.
I would either see a psychiatrist or a therapist to help with these problems. You may need medications which could greatly improve the quality of your life and help with the traits you mentioned. Talking things over with a professional would definitely help your self esteem but you do need to be with a therapist or psychiatrist and not an internet group. If you decide the therapist isn’t the one for you try another until you find one that you are comfortable with so you feel you can talk truthfully and openly with them. I wish you the best of luck.
