BENTON PANTHER GAMEDAY – EL DORADO

It’s time for Benton Panther Football!

Tonight, the Panthers travel to south Arkansas and Union County to face a long-time foe, the El Dorado Wildcats. Both teams enter tonight’s game with identical 4-2 overall records, 2-1 in the 6-A East.

The Panthers come in to the game on a high following last Friday’s record-setting 87-42 win over Sheridan. The 87 points marked the second most in Benton High School football history (behind a 105-0 win over Mabelvale in the 1930 season opener) and the fourth most points scored in a game since the Arkansas Activities Association began keeping statewide records.

The Wildcats lost last week to Sylvan Hills 25-10, their first loss since their season-opening defeat at the hands of Little Rock Christian.

Tonight is the 48th all-time game between the Panthers and Wildcats with El Dorado owning a 28-19 advantage in the series. However, the Panthers have won five straight over the Wildcats and 10 of the past 11 contests between the two teams.

Kickoff tonight at venerable Memorial Stadium on the heart of El Dorado will be at 7:00.
