BENTON PANTHER GAMEDAY – LR CATHOLIC

It’s time for Benton Panther Football!

Tonight, the Panthers (5-2, 3-1) return home to the Palace on what could be a historic night in Panther football to take on the oldest rival in Panther history, the LR Catholic Rockets (2-5, 1-3).

Tonight marks the 62^nd game all-time between the Panthers and Rockets, making LR Catholic the most played opponent in Benton High School history.

And new history can be made tonight on the field. With this first touchdown pass this evening, Drew Davis will become the first-ever Panther quarterback to throw for 100 touchdowns in his career. With 225 yards passing yards, he would break Garrett Brown’s record as the all-time passing yardage leader in Panther history.

And Head Coach Brad Harris can surpass the legendary Dwight Fite with a win tonight. Both Coach Harris and Coach Fite currently have 83 wins and are tied as the winningest head coaches in Benton High School history.

In addition, tonight is Military Appreciation Night at the Palace and all Military ID holders, and a guest can get in free.

Following last week’s big 60-36 win at El Dorado, the Panthers remain tied with Jonesboro and Sylvan Hills atop the 6-A East standings with 3-1 records. Sylvan Hills plays at Jonesboro tonight in a game with huge post-season implications for the conference. With Benton holding the tiebreaker over Jonesboro, a Hurricane win over Sylvan Hills would place the Panthers in first place in the 6-A East should the Panthers take care of business tonight against LR Catholic.

Gates open at 5:00 and kickoff will be at 7:00.
